One of the most important and potentially overwhelming decisions facing a new parent is choosing the proper swimwear for their new baby. Infant swimsuits come in an almost infinite number of colors, styles, materials, designs, etc. So what factors should you consider when deciding on a baby bathing suit and ultimately what is the best swimsuit for a newborn?

Without a doubt, the single most important factor when choosing a baby swimsuit is sun protection. Infants have incredibly sensitive skin and pediatricians recommend babies not use sunscreen until they are six months old. Dermatologists know that UV exposure leads directly to skin cancer, and just a single sunburn as a baby, toddler, or child can lead to skin cancer later in life.
